Democrat Double Standards on Senate Letter to Iran’s Ayatollahs

President Obama’s contempt for Congress, and his ignoring Constitutional doctrines of “Separation of Powers” and “Checks and Balances,” are illustrated by his “executive amnesties,” and stated intent to ignore Congress with his“non-treaty” with Iran about nuclear weapons and sanctions; while seeking UN approval.

In response, Republican Senators sent a letter to Iran’s ayatollahs, instructing them that the next Congress and president can revoke an unsatisfactory agreement. Given his disastrous Middle East policies, Obama needs Congressional “advice” and “consent.”

Some outraged Senate Democrats cried “treason.” No such qualms when Democrats dealt with foreign leaders to obstruct foreign policy initiatives of Republican presidents.

Senators John Sparkman and George McGovern visited Cuba to thwart Ford in 1975. Senator Ted Kennedy sent his minions to the Soviet Union with strategies to block Reagan’s policies. Speaker Jim Wright promised Nicaraguan Communist leader Ortega his support, further enhanced by the Democrat’s notorious “Dear Commandante” letter.

Senators John Kerry and Tom Harkin brought encouragement to Ortega. Senator Rockefeller met with Middle East leaders to encourage them to resist Bush’s policies.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats visited Syrian dictator Assad to thwart Bush’s anti-Iran policies. Pelosi labeled Assad “a reformer.” Senator Biden called Bush’s Iraq “Surge” a mistake. So did Senator Hillary Clinton. And Obama’s minions interfered in Israeli elections.

Historical memories are selective and short. Partisan politics are hypocritical and vicious.
