DETROIT (AP) — Ian Kinsler's RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning lifted the Detroit Tigers to a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.

Anthony Gose hit a one-out double off Ryan Pressly (1-1), and Kinsler followed with a flare that dropped into shallow center field.

Angel Nesbitt (1-1) pitched the 10th for his first career win.

J.D. Martinez homered for the Tigers in the fourth inning, and Minnesota tied it in the eighth on a sacrifice fly by Torii Hunter.

Alfredo Simon allowed a run and six hits in 7 2-3 innings for the Tigers. He struck out six and walked one.

Minnesota's Kyle Gibson was impressive as well, allowing a run and five hits in seven innings. He struck out six.

Hicks getting another shot at majors

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins are giving center fielder Aaron Hicks another shot at the major leagues.

The Twins' 2008 first-round pick was summoned from Class AAA Rochester Monday night.  He started in centerfield in last nights game and did get one hit in four at-bats.

In Rochester, Hicks had raised his average to .336 this season, with two homers, 14 RBI and 21 runs scored.

Hicks replaces outfielder Shane Robinson on the 25-man roster. Robinson is on the family emergency list.
