Austin, MN (KROC AM News) - The Austin School District is taking no chances and has announced tighter security at Austin High School Tuesday as a result of an unknown threat.

The district says a note was found at the school after classes had ended Monday and it “contained a threat for tomorrow, December 18.”

Officials say law enforcement was notified and “district personnel have met and have responded to the situation according to procedure.”

The district says as a result, all activities prior to 7:30 AM at Austin High School have been canceled for Tuesday. The building will open for students at 7:30 AM. All students must enter through Door #1 and #13 on the east side. Students will need to show their student ID and students will be checked at the door. Campus will be closed throughout the day and no students will be allowed to leave for lunch.

The district says ”the safety and security of our students and staff is of the utmost importance to the district.”
