The Sheriff On Rochester’s Good Morning [VIDEO]

Olmsted County Sheriff Kevin Torgerson was on the radio Wednesday morning with Rich Peterson and Kim David.

We talked about a variety of topics, including the new “social host” ordinance recently enacted by the county board.

There was an awards ceremony at the end of April during which four deputies were honored for their lifesaving efforts at an attempted murder in Stewartville.  The Sheriff presented medals of commendaton to Sergeants Rich Carmack and Steve Kazeck along witih Deputies Nick Jacobson and Josh Alexander.  He talked about how they performed during such a chaotic and dangerous situation.

There’s a lot of talk, and rightly so, about  PTSD with soldiers but the Sheriff pointed out that that’s an issue with law enforcement and first responders as well.

It’s hard to deal with some of the horrific situations that you come upon.  Every officer or firefighter has to deal with that.  Some are affected more than others and need more time to process it.  Others can seemingly shrug it off.

Sheriff Torgerson was asked how he deals with it.  Back in 1988, he was one of the first on the scene at the Brom family mass murder in Rochester..
