We're looking at another couple days of below zero temps, and that means there will be members of our community in need of a warm place to stay. Click play to hear it directly from Rebecca Snap, the Director of Community Engagement for the Rochester Salvation Army.

“The people that come to the warming center are so grateful to have a warm, safe place to stay,” said Alex Hurlebaus, Case Worker & Warming Center Coordinator at the Rochester Salvation Army, “We are so grateful for the incredible volunteers that have already given 600 hours of time to make this center possible, and for the incredible businesses and individuals that have donated food and clothing for our warming center guests.”

Alex Hurlebaus mentions the volunteers...which is something they really need for the Winter Warming Shelter. Snap told me the volunteer job is an excellent opportunity for those with unusual hours because that's when the shelter is open.

Night time, overnight, and early morning. If you have spare time during any of these times, PLEASE CALL ALEX AT THE SALVATION ARMY TO VOLUNTEER. 507-288-3663 is the number.

For businesses, if you'd like to donate any sort of in-kind donations, please get in touch before you drop anything off. You can call Alex for that, too, at 288-3663.
