St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Department of Health is reporting another flu-related death of a child.

The department’s weekly update on influenza activity in the state indicates there have now been nine pediatric deaths blamed on the flu this season.

Overall activity remains classified as “local” with a couple of outbreaks reported by schools and four outbreaks in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities last week.

The report also notes there was a modest uptick in the percentage of positive results for the flu among the samples submitted for testing.
