Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  The National Weather Service says the temperature at the Rochester airport rose to 59 degrees just after 4 p.m. Tuesday.

That was only four degrees short of the record for the date.It was also the warmest reading there since October 27th when the high temperature reached 69 degrees.

It was even warmer in other parts of southern Minnesota.Mankato and Red Wing had highs of 66 degrees, as did the Twin Cities National Weather Service office. That tied the daily record.

The above normal weather has also led to the sudden disappearance of snow. The snow depth at the Rochester Airport melted from 7 inches on Sunday to 1 inch on Tuesday.

Highs in the 50’s and 60’s are expected through Monday and then cooler weather is in the forecast for St. Patrick’s Day.
