MAHTOMEDI, Minn. (AP) — Authorities are holding a teenager in the fatal shooting of a popular high school teacher who also owned a Twin Cities bar.

Forty-six-year-old David Frigaard of Roseville was shot and killed early Saturday in Mahtomedi. Police say they have a 19-year-old suspect from Pine Springs in custody.

The Washington County sheriff's office responded about 3:15 a.m. to a call of shots fired. When deputies arrived, they found Frigaard dead from a single gunshot wound.

The Star Tribune reports Frigaard was an art teacher at Park High School in Cottage Grove, in the South Washington County School District. He also owned Frigaard's, a bar in Willernie.

His family declined to comment Sunday. The school is preparing to provide counseling for students and staff when they return to school Monday.
