Chester,MN ( KROC AM News) - The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department says a neighbor of a family in Chester helped prevent a fire from spreading to their home yesterday afternoon.

A spokesman says the neighbor jumped into the family’s burning SUV and backed it out of the garage before it could cause more damage.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department says the fire was spotted around 4 p.m. at the residence located at 6704 Chester Heights southeast. Damage to the vehicle and garage was estimated at $15,000.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
