Rochester, MN (KROC AM News)  - A Rochester man who was charged with taking part in what police say was a gang-related beating last December was sentenced Thursday.

29 year old Jimmie Gaston was one of four suspects charged in the assault that sent the victim to the hospital. The victim told police he was beaten by a group of men who described themselves as members of the Gangster Disciples street gang. He says he was assaulted for half an hour and had to be treated at the ER.

Gaston was placed on probation for up to 5 years, fined $1,000 and given a 45 day jail sentence.The cases against the other three suspects are pending.
