ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — A Minneapolis man has been sentenced to more than 25 years in prison for fatally shooting his ex-boyfriend and business partner at a gas station last summer.

Lyle "Ty" Hoffman was sentenced on Tuesday. Hoffman pleaded guilty in January to second-degree murder for killing 48-year-old Kelly Phillips.

Ramsey County Judge George Stephenson admonished Hoffman for not having the "decency" to take responsibility for the murder.

At his plea hearing, Hoffman admitted that he shot Phillips, an attorney for Boston Scientific, three times at an Arden Hills gas station after a "heated argument" in Phillips' car about ownership of Lush Bar.

Hoffman eluded police for a month after the shooting, and was arrested after he was seen in Shakopee.
