Rochester MN (KROC AM News) - The first major winter storm to hit southeast Minnesota this season dumped about 4- 7 inches of snow across the region - about half of what had been forecast.

The official total at the Rochester airport through midnight was 6.8 inches, missing the record for the date by around an inch (8.1 - 2000). Some more light snow is expected Tuesday, up to an an inch.

The snow tapered off Monday night and road crews were busy dealing with snow-clogged streets and highways.

Driving conditions for the Tuesday morning commute will be rough so motorists are urged to allow for extra time and drive carefully.

Here's a summary of the storm.
