STILLWATER, Minn. (AP) — A Stillwater man has been accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman police say he found passed out along a St. Paul street.

A criminal complaint says 26-year-old Jeremiah Johnson found the unconscious, intoxicated woman July 5, carried her to his pickup truck and drove to his apartment in Stillwater. The charging document says a witness was able to give police a license plate number and officers tracked it to Johnson's apartment. KSTP-TV says the 18-year-old woman told police she woke up dressed only in her underwear and that the last thing she remembered was watching the fireworks.

Johnson says he just wanted to help the woman because she had sprained her ankle, and that she couldn't give him her address so he took her back to his place.

Johnson is jailed on $400,000 unconditional bond.
