Stewartville Woman Charged in Fatal Wreck
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Stewartville woman who was involved in a fatal traffic wreck near the Rochester airport has been charged with careless driving.
The misdemeanor charge has been filed in Olmsted County Court against 34-year-old Audrey Colligan. She is scheduled to make her first court appearance next month.
The case is being prosecuted by the city attorney’s office. City Attorney Terry Adkins says the case was reviewed by the Olmsted County Attorney’s office, which declined to file more serious charges.
The wreck happened around 5:30 p.m. September 25th on Highway 63 when a van driven by Colligan rear-ended a pickup truck that had stopped for traffic.
The pickup was driven by 41 year old Christopher Olson of Watertown, SD. He wasn’t hurt but a passenger - 65 year old Sandra Benson of Watertown - suffered fatal injuries. Two other passengers were treated for non-life threatening injuries. Colligan and an 11 year old passenger suffered non-life threatening injuries.
