Olmsted County deputies found themselves dealing with another student who took a gun to school yesterday.  Last week it was in Byron;  this time it was in Stewartville.

A student at Stewartville’s high school called 911 around 4 p.m. yesterday to report a classmate had brought a handgun to school.  He left on foot before the student called and because he had been spotted near the Bonner elementary school, a deputy informed officials and they went into lockdown mode and brought all the children who were outside into the building as a precaution.

The student was later located at his home and deputies found the unloaded gun in his bedroom.  He was taken into custody and is expected to be charged today.

He told the deputies he took the gun to school so he could give it to another student but was unable to locate him.  He says he kept it in his backpack.
