Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man arrested for a recent stabbing and robbery in Rochester has entered into a plea agreement with Olmsted County prosecutors in a previous case involving a high-speed chase through areas of northwest Rochester.

28-year-old Edgar Barrientos has admitted to a gross misdemeanor charge of criminal vehicular operation and a misdemeanor assault count. The charges against him originally included a felony for fleeing police and another misdemeanor violation. The chase, which lasted about 10 minutes, ended after the car driven by Barrientos collided with another car and smashed into a parked vehicle, resulting in minor injuries to the St. Charles couple in the second car.

On July 3rd, Barrientos and three other people were arrested after Rochester police were called to a hotel in southeast Rochester, where an 18-year-old man had been stabbed when he and a friend were confronted by a group of people and were robbed of their cell phones, wallets and a car. The suspects were located at another hotel a short time later and police identified Barrientos as the suspected stabber and he was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree aggravated robbery, and vehicle theft.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in the high-speed chase case on September 12th, and is due to appear in court in the stabbing case next week.
