Mantorville, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Claremont man has been sentenced to 52 months in prison for stabbing his estranged wife in January.

49-year-old Jorge Rocha worked out a plea agreement with Dodge County prosecutors just days before he was scheduled to go to trial on attempted murder, felony assault and terroristic threat charges. He entered a guilty plea to a second degree assault charge, while the two other counts were dismissed.

Rocha was accused of entering his estranged wife’s apartment in Claremont and stabbing her in the abdomen with a carving knife. The victim told investigators she had been involved in an argument with Rocha earlier in the day after he refused to return the keys to her apartment.

Rocha was also accused of threatening the woman’s teenage son with a knife.
