Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - Roads, parking lots and sidewalks are slippery in the Rochester area on this first full day of winter as a result of Thursday’s snow and motorists and pedestrians are being urged to be careful.

Rochester police responded to 31 traffic mishaps during the snow event.

Rochester’s official snowfall total through midnight was 2.3 inches. Totals across the region were generally in the 1- 3 inch range.

Temperatures are expected to hold steady Friday but then it will turn much colder through the Christmas Day weekend.  Look for the first subzero temperatures since last winter on Monday.

Below normal temperatures will continue all of next week.
