Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Rochester-based Southern Minnesota Municipal Power Agency has agreed to purchase all of the electricity that will be generated by a large solar power array that’s expected to be operational next year at a site near Owatonna.

A news release from SMMPA says the agreement with the Lemond Solar Center will run through 2037. The company plans to erect a photovoltaic array on a 40-acre site will have the capacity to generate five megawatts of power, which is enough to supply the electrical needs of approximately 775 homes.
