KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — Police say they have apprehended a suspect in a series of random shootings in the Kalamazoo, Michigan area that left six people dead. A 14-year-old girl reported killed earlier is still alive.

Kalamazoo County Undersheriff Paul Matyas says that 45-year-old suspect Jason Dalton of Kalamazoo County has no known criminal history.

Matyas says Dalton did not resist when approached by law enforcement officers and that weapons were found in his vehicle.

Matyas says "The threat to the public is over. We now have our suspect."

The deaths took place on Saturday evening in parking lots at a Cracker Barrel restaurant and a Ford dealership. A woman is hospitalized after she was wounded at an apartment complex parking lot.
