Curtis, a 2007 Mayo High School graduate, entered the Marine Corps and served in Iraq and Afghanistan before being killed in action on April 2, 2010. His future plans had included college. His family started this fund shortly after his death and to date have given more than $18,000 in scholarship awards.

According to a news release from Wayne Stillman, the funds for scholarships have been raised by an annual golf tournament hosted by the Swenson family.

The 7th Annual CPL Curtis M Swenson Memorial Golf Benefit will take place at Willow Creek Golf Course on Saturday, June 3, 2017. They're looking for more hole sponsorships for $300, $500 or $1000 or, you can sponsor a team of veterans for $360.

The golf sign up is full but anyone is welcome for dinner at 6:00 for $20.  Call the Willow Creek Golf Course, 507-285-0305 to register.

Donations not only support the CPL Curtis M Swenson Memorial Scholarship, but help local veterans, active military and their families.
