Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The widow of the Rochester man who created the fountain at the Peace Plaza is sounding off about a proposal to relocate the sculpture.

It was recently revealed that a firm hired to redesign the Peace Plaza as part of the DMC initiative was considering an option to relocate the fountain of doves. It has been in its current spot since it was dedicated by the city in 1989.

Arlyn Gagnon - the wife of the late Charles E. Gagnon - says she “wants the Peace Fountain to stay at the exact same location because of the history it has with the city of Rochester.”

She says the Charles E. Gagnon Museum has started a petition for residents to sign to keep the fountain at its current site and to keep the name Peace Plaza. She is asking residents to sign the petition (at gagnonmuseum.org) and consider adding testimonials and memories of the fountain.
