Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News - A man who shot another man during a home invasion in Rochester almost 2 years ago has been sentenced to a little over 11 years in prison.

39-year-old Vondale Kincaide had just been released from the Lino Lakes State Prison when he connected with three of his brothers and they came up with a plan to rob a Rochester man who had a marijuana growing operation in his home near Gage Elementary School in northwest Rochester. Following his arrest, Kincaide told investigators he shot the victim in the knee to “calm him down” before he left with two jars filled with marijuana.

Kincaide earlier entered a guilty plea to a first-degree assault charge through a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of four other charges.

Two other brothers involved in the case, 25-year-old Antonyo White and 29-year-old Walter Abrams pleaded guilty to first-degree aggravated robbery charges. White was sentenced to 93 months in prison and Abrams was given a 75 month sentence. The third brother, 33-year-old Dion Abrams, was convicted by an Olmsted County jury on charges stemming from the robbery and was given a 16 year prison term.
