Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  Rochester Police and the Rochester Fire Department responded to a serious injury crash on the west edge of the city late Monday morning.

Fire Department Deputy Chief Steve Belau says 911 calls from other motorists reported a pickup truck had crashed through the gate at the east end of 7th Street Northwest near the Universal Marine and RV business shortly before 11:30 a.m.

The pickup rolled and flipped several times before landing on one of the soccer fields near the future Cascade Lake. Initially, witness accounts indicated the vehicle might have landed in the water and the Fire Department responded with water rescue suits.

The driver of the pickup was transported to St. Mary’s hospital with what were described as serious injuries. His name has not been released.
