AUSTIN, Minn. (AP) — Sheriff's officials say the death of a man found in a river in Mower County is being investigated as a homicide.

The body of 39-year-old David Allen Madison was found by fishermen on Sunday in the Cedar River near Austin. Authorities believe Madison was killed elsewhere and his body was dumped in the river.

An autopsy on Monday confirmed the man's identity and cause of death. But, Sheriff Terese Amazi has declined to say how he died. The sheriff says investigators have interviewed a person about the death, but she stopped short of calling that individual a suspect or person of interest.
