St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Minnesota Corrections Department has canceled a statewide alert for a missing high-risk sex offender.

Officials say 34-year-old Rico Rodriguez has been captured in Illinois. An alert went out earlier this week after the Level 3 sex offender was able to cut off his GPS tracking device and walk away from a Minneapolis halfway house where he was under intensive supervision.

Rodriguez, whose criminal history dates back to 2003, was released from prison back in August.
