Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News)  - A Rochester woman who police say assaulted the girlfriend of her former boyfriend last year has pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement.

Pleading guilty to a felony assault charge was 42 year old Marci Smith.  She also pleaded guilty to violating a court order for protection.

Police say Smith drove to the home of her ex-boyfriend last October and got into a verbal confrontation with him and his girlfriend. Police say Smith struck the other woman over the head with a pipe and then drove off.  Officers were called to the residence and while there, saw Smith drive by and gave chase. The chase ended when Smith crashed into the rear of another vehicle near Apache Mall. She and a woman in the other car were treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Smith also pleaded guilty to a charge of criminal vehicular  operation for causing the traffic wreck.

She will be sentenced in July.
