Rochester Woman Acquitted in Home Invasion Case
Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Freeborn County jury has found a Rochester woman not guilty of charges stemming from a reported home invasion in Albert Lea earlier this year.
33-year-old Benita Crum was acquitted of two felony burglary counts and two misdemeanor assault charges. Crum was arrested in late March after she and her brother went to a home in Albert Lea to retrieve her two daughters from their biological father, with whom she had been involved in a custody dispute.
The father of the children told police the brother, Jessie Crum, entered the home and held a gun to his abdomen. He says Benita then came in and left with the children. His girlfriend’s daughters told police Benita Crum also assaulted them before leaving the home.
Jesse Crum faces felony burglary and assault charges in the case and is currently scheduled to stand trial in January.
