The Rochester chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be making a special presentation Saturday during an event at the History Center of Olmsted County.

The organization is holding its annual award ceremony and will be honoring the student winners of the American History Essay and Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizen Essay contests during a program that will begin at 10 AM. This year's guest speaker will be retired Command Sgt. Major Harry Kerr, who will be talking about the 50th anniversary of the Vietnam War.

Following the program, the local DAR will present Bob Bardwell of Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch with an Action Trackchair for use by local disabled military veterans. Local DAR members raised the funds to purchase the specialized all-terrain wheelchair that will be available to disabled veterans to use, free of charge, at the Ironwood Springs Christian Ranch.

Bonnie Kottschade from the Rochester chapter of DAR appeared on the Rochester Today show with Andy Brownell and Tom Ostrom Friday morning to talk about the generous donation. You can hear Tom and Andy every Tuesday and Friday morning from 10 to 11 AM on KROC-AM.

The YouTube at the top of this post features Bonnie discussing the donation, while the YouTube below is all about the Action Trackchair.
