Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A public school system in the Kansas City area has named Rochester Public Schools Superintendent Michael Munoz a finalist for its open superintendent position.

A statement posted on the Shawnee Mission School District website lists Munoz, along with a candidate from Omaha Nebraska and another from the St. Louis area as finalists for the job. Munoz was scheduled to meet with community members in the Shawnee Mission District and undergo a second interview with the community’s school board today (Feb.10).

The school system serves over 27,000 students in a relatively affluent area of suburban Kansas City, which includes Overland Park.

Just last week, the Rochester School Board approved a three-year contract extension for Munoz that increases his salary about $16,000 by the final year of the employment agreement. Munoz has held the superintendent’s position in the Rochester School District since the summer of 2011.
