Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It looks like a busy Rochester street will remain closed for another week.

The intersection at West Center and 16th Ave near the Miracle Mile Shopping Center was closed this week due to an underground utility project.

The Rochester Public Works Dept. says the extended street closure is necessary because it was determined an entire manhole has to be replaced, which may take several more days.

The department says the project had been scheduled to be completed by Monday, May 15th. The closure is now expected to remain in place through Sunday, May 21.

The suggested detour route around this construction zone is Civic Center Drive NW or 2nd Street SW to 11th Avenue.

Public transit riders are asked to check with Rochester Public Transit for affected routes..
