Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) - Rochester police have caught up with a man wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred in July.

A spokesman says 29-year-old Liban Mohamed Ahmed was arrested Saturday night after police found him in the passenger seat of a vehicle near the intersection of South Broadway and 20th Street.

He faces a second degree assault charge and a weapons violation for allegedly shooting a 22-year-old man in the leg in the early hours of July 29th. The shooting took place near the Eastridge Estates apartment complex off Marion Road Southeast following a fight at the nearby Kwik Trip store that investigators believed was linked to an earlier confrontation at a downtown Rochester bar.

When the arrest warrant was issued for Ahmed a couple weeks after the shooting, police indicated they had information that he was being sought by others and that it might be in his best interest to surrender to authorities.
