The recent cold weather in the Rochester area may be impacting the annual Salvation Army Red Kettle drive, along with a lack of volunteers.  As of last Friday, donations were around $51,000.  That was behind the pace set last year.  The overall goal for this year’s combined Red Kettle and Christmas Campaign is $1.05 million.

The kettle campaign runs through Christmas Eve and a call has gone out for volunteers. At last check, there was a need for 3,000 bell ringing hours.

Volunteers are especially being sought for this coming weekend when large numbers of shoppers are expected to be at stores where the kettles are located.

Volunteers may use the online system

to sign up to bell ring, or by calling 507-288-3663 to ring a bell at one of three dozen area locations.
