Rochester Receives Record Snow
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It may not have been much but it was enough to set a record.
Rochester’s official snowfall total Thursday was 3.6 inches. The previous record was 3 inches, set in 1963. The water content of those billions of flakes was .33 inches, also a record for Jan 11th.
The snow is gone but very cold air has returned and will be here into next week. And, we could get a few more inches of snow Sunday. Temps will be below average at least through Wednesday with highs mainly in the single digits and lows below zero.
Slick driving conditions were reported Friday morning in the Rochester area because the cold weather is limiting the effects of road salt. Motorists are being advised to be careful. And, the National Weather Service is alerting those who are going to be outdoors to be mindful of very cold wind chill conditions.
