Enrollment in the Rochester School District has officially topped 17,000 for the first time.

The public school system’s official enrollment for the current school year, which is based on the October 1st headcount, is 17,144. That’s over 250 students higher than the enrollment total from October of last year, and was 160 above the level predicted by the school district’s most recent enrollment projection issued this past spring.

Interestingly, the enrollment report that will be presented to the School Board this evening shows Kindergarten enrollment dropped by almost 60 students this fall despite the implementation of district-wide all-day Kindergarten.
