Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - At last check, Rochester police officers were still at the scene of a reported home invasion.

Officers were called to a home in the 3200 block of Portage Circle NW around 3:30 Tuesday morning after the homeowner found two masked men in his basement. The 25 year old homeowner told officers his wife woke him up after hearing noises. He  went to check and found the two men.  He says one of them pointed a handgun at him before they fled on foot, firing a round outside the home.

Officers found a shell casing and other evidence outside the home but there was no sign of the intruders.  A neighbor reported seeing a white four-door model car leaving the scene at a high rate of speed but it's not known if it was involved in the incident.

The home is located south of Valleyhigh Drive and west of the Mayo Medical Laboratories along West Circle Drive.
