Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man’s car was impounded early Friday as the suspected vehicle in a serious injury hit and run.

It happened around 9:30 Thursday night when a car turned in front of a motorcycle at the intersection of East Center Street and Civic Center Drive, near the Mayo Civic Center. The driver of the car fled at a high rate of speed.

 

The driver of the motorcycle and his female passenger were taken to St. Marys. The driver has been identified as 26-year-old Chad Grutzmacher. He was listed in fair condition Friday morning. His passenger was 19-year-old Dasia Simmons, who was apparently treated and released. Both are from Rochester.

Officers located the suspected vehicle involved in the hit and run around 2:30 Friday morning in the driveway of a home in the 1300 block of Fourth Street Northeast. The officers talked to the owner, who said he wasn’t sure how the vehicle had been damaged. He was not arrested and the investigation continues.
