The Rochester City Council this week approved $87,000 for the acquisition of body cameras for the Rochester Police Department.

Police Chief Roger Peterson was on Rochester's Good Morning Wednesday with Rich Peterson and Kim David.

Most of the hour was spent talking about the use of the cameras and the guidelines for use.  The Chief also acknowledged there would be an ongoing cost that hasn't really been determined yet, other than it would necessitate hiring at least one full-time person to take care of them.

It will still be at least this fall before the department has full use of the cameras.
