Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester Police Civil Service Commission is scheduled to hear Tuesday from the officer whose name was removed from its list of eligible candidates for the city’s police chief position.

Dallas Police Major Roy Alston is appealing the commission’s recent decision, which was based on a background check that led to the discovery that he had failed to disclose a disciplinary issue on his application.

Alston later called the background investigation that was cited as the reason his name was removed from the list of finalists “incomplete.” Alston went on to say the “Information shared by this incomplete background investigation was ultimately inaccurate and without context.“ He says it dealt with an incident with a former employer 12 years ago.
