Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) The Rochester Park Board is getting ready for a change in leadership.

The term of longtime Board President Ron Toomey expires Monday and Mayor Ardell Brede is recommending the vacancy be filled by Larry Mortenson. Known as “ Mort “ by many who know him, Mortenson has been the 5th ward representative on the board for six years.

Mayor Brede is also recommending the appointment of Richard Dale to finish Mortenson’s term, which will expire June 1st, 2017. Dale is a retired city police officer.

The  City Council will act on the recommended appointments at its Monday meeting.

The Council will also act on the mayor's recommended appointments to the city’s new Police Policy Oversight Committee. The police department, city staff and citizens have spent the past year developing the committee’s mission and responsibilities.

Mayor Brede is recommending the following serve as the inaugural members of the committee:  Don Barlow, Lawrence Collins, W.C. Jordan, Jr., Abdi Roble, Rebecca Sedarski, Erin Truedale and Allan Witz.
