Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man was arraigned Friday on four assault charges, accused of causing his ex-girlfriend to undergo an emergency C-section to save her baby.

Two of the charges are felonies and one involves the injuries to the baby who was said to be on life support after being delivered Thursday.

Bail was set at $100,000 during the arraignment for 20-year-old Chaz Moore.

Police say he somehow gained entrance to the woman’s home while she was sleeping Thursday morning. Police say Moore pushed the 20-year-old woman and she fell. Moore left and a short while later, the woman - who was 26 weeks pregnant -  noticed blood running down her leg. She drove herself to the hospital and initially, doctors could detect the baby’s heartbeat. But a short while later nothing was heard and it was decided to perform the C-section.

Police said Friday the woman was doing okay but the baby was expected to remain on life support for an extended period.
