Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester man is being given a chance to avoid prison for his involvement in the transport of a significant amount of drugs.

22-year-old Brandon Villagrana-Urista was driving a car last April that was stopped by a Rochester police officer who spotted a man wanted on an arrest warrant in the passenger seat of the vehicle. A search of the car led to the seizure of over 300 grams of methamphetamine, over 100 grams of marijuana and over $3000 in cash.

Urista, who earlier entered a guilty plea to first and second-degree drug possession charges, has been given a stayed prison sentence of 98 months along with 20 years on probation.
