Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man was arrested Sunday after attacking his roommate - who fought back with a hammer.  

Police were called to the men’s residence in the 600 block of 7th Ave SE around noon and found the 50-year-old victim suffering from some facial fractures. He was taken to St Mary’s Hospital for treatment.

The victim told police 33-year-old Ryan Mahoney was upset about something and began punching holes in the walls of their home. He then began punching the victim in the face. The victim -who suffers from a disability- was able to take a hammer away from Mahoney and hit him over the head, ending the assault.

Mahoney was gone when officers arrived but he was found a short while later and arrested. He is facing felony assault and other charges.
