Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Rochester man who was found passed out along South Broadway around 4 a.m. Sunday was helped home by city police officers. He was later arrested as a suspected burglar.

Police Capt. John Sherwin says 33-year-old Kevin Hansen had been drinking and was found near 21st Street, about a block from his home. A shovel and generator were found nearby but Hansen told the officers he had no idea where they came from. The officers took the generator and shovel to the Law Enforcement Center.

Later in the day, police were contacted about a burglary at the former Tinn’s sandwhich shop - near where Hansen had been found. The burglar broke a glass door to gain access and made off with some TVs, tools, a candy machine - and a generator, the same one found near Hansen earlier in the day.

On a hunch, officers went to Hansen’s residence and found the TVs and candy machine. He was arrested and is now facing a felony burglary charge.
