Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Rochester police are praising the actions of a woman who they say fought off a large man who stabbed her as he was apparently trying to rape her. And it turns out the man is her cousin.

Police Sgt John Mitchell says the incident happened Saturday evening at a residence in the 3,000 block of Bandel Dr NW.

Mitchell says the 27-year-old woman fought with the man after he had stabbed her in the neck and was able to escape and went to the nearby Holiday station on 55th St. The victim was taken to St. Marys Hospital and was still a patient as of Sunday morning. Mitchell says her injury was non-life threatening.

A 911 call was made around 6:15 p.m. from the Holiday station and about the same time the man called to report an incident at the residence.

Officers went there and arrested 23-year-old Erickson Danga Godi. Mitchell describes Godi as nearly 6 feet tall and weighing 280 pounds.
