The Rochester Lourdes Eagles took down Pierz 25-20 to earn a berth in the Class AAA championship game for the second time in the past three seasons Saturday night at U.S Bank Stadium.

Rochester Lourdes Senior Matthew Hayford intercepted a pass that set up an Andrew Peine 1-yard touchdown run to give the Eagles a 25-14 lead with just under 3 minutes to go in the game.

Senior Zach Jungles got the scoring started for Rochester Lourdes in the second quarter and gave the Eagles a 7-0 lead. After Pierz tied the game, Jake Groteboer added a touchdown run to make it 15-7. Pierz scored to make it 15-14 at the half.

Ben Limburg kicked a 40-yard field goal to give the Eagles an 18-14 lead, and then the late touchdown by Peine extended the Eagles lead to 25-14.

Pierz scored a late touchdown 25-20 but Rochester Lourdes recovered the onside kick to secure the win and advance on to the State Championship game where they will take on Fairmont Saturday, Nov. 24th at 1 p.m.

Jungles led the way with 109 yards on the ground for the Eagles, while Groteboer added 62 yards on the ground.
