Jakusik leads Honkers to win at Battle Creek in first start.

(Rochester, Minn.)--The Rochester Honkers defeated the Battle Creek Bombers 5-1, giving Greg Jakusik (Stevens Institute) his first win of the season. Jakusik was impressive in his first start for the Honkers, registering 6 strikeouts while allowing three hits and one run in 5.2 innings pitched.

The Honkers were led at the Plate by catcher Sam Hall (Dixie State) and Alex Schultz (Nebraska-Omaha). Hall went 3 for 4 on the day after coming into this game without a hit on the season. Shultz went 2 for 5 and scored two of the Honkers five runs.

Battle Creeks only score of the day came when Tyler Walsh(Belmont) hit a home run off Jakusik in the fourth inning.

The Honkers and Bombers square off again this morning, bright and early at 9:05

Rochester’s next home game is this Thursday, June 4.  It will be a double header against the Mankato Moondogs.  The two seven-inning games will be followed by a fireworks extravaganza.  First game begins at 5:05 pm.
