Rochester Experienced 8th Warmest Year in 2015
Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The National Weather Service says 2015 tied as the 8th warmest for Rochester, thanks in large part to the final few months of the year.
The fall season of September - November was 3rd warmest on record. That was helped by the 2nd warmest September and 6th warmest November. Earlier in the year, residents had to endure the 5th coldest February but that was offset by the 2nd warmest December on record.
The temperature extremes during 2015 ranged from 17 below to 93 above. That was recorded on June 9th and was the only 90 degree day of the year.
Overall, seven of the year’s 12 months experienced above normal temperatures.
Precipitation for the year totaled 35.51 inches, which was about 2 ½ inches above normal.
