Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  A Rochester man who police say is a “well-known” local drug dealer was busted this week while driving back from Chicago where he apparently picked up some cocaine.

Interim Police Chief John Sherwin says an investigation involving 30-year-old Kendrick Collins began in May.

He says investigators became aware Collins went to Chicago this week and he was pulled over when he returned late Wednesday. Officers found 9 ounces of cocaine in the vehicle. They also searched his residence and found more cocaine and some heroin.

Sherwin says the cocaine that was seized has an estimated street value of $40,000. He says another residence was also searched and officers seized $23,000 in suspected drug money.

Collins is expected to be charged with felony drug charges.
