Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A rural Rochester man with a previous criminal sexual conduct conviction on this criminal record is being held in the Olmsted County Jail on sex abuse charges.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department says the county’s child protection services office recently contacted investigators about a 12-year-old victim of sexual abuse. The child told investigators the abuse began seven years ago when he was 5-years-old. That led the investigators to interview 26-year-old Michael Watson, who gave a statement in which he admitted to the sexual contact.

A criminal complaint has been filed against Watson charging him with 1st and 2nd-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Watson was convicted of a third-degree criminal sexual conduct charge in 2013 and was placed on probation for 10 years. He was brought back before an Olmsted County Judge last year for a probation violation, and rather than impose his stayed prison sentence, Watson was ordered to serve 45 days in jail and remain on probation.
